It is hard to believe that my two month break is over. Now that my website is up and running i am so excited to get back into the swing of things! To kick off this year i got to take some pictures of this little sweetie. Isn't she a doll? Her mom was so generous and so easy to work with. I will admit that I was nervous at first because it was my first session in over two months but i had a great little model and i think the pictures turned out great! Here are some pictures from that session. Enjoy!
I am always asked how long i have doing photography. I look back and can't believe it has been about 7 years! I found my love for photography in a digital photo class in high school. Back then i just had a 5 megapixel camera and i thought that little camera was the best thing! It didn't take long for me to realize that 5 megapixels wasn't much of anything and my pictures looked pretty good as long as they were about thumbnail size. That same year my parents bought a Nikon coolpix camera it had double the amount of resolution so i was pretty much convinced that i was professional at that point, the pictures with the deer and my sister were taken with this camera. Looking back, i was nowhere near professional but i like to look at my old photos just to see how far i've come. I didn't do a lot of photography my first few years of college but when i did it was mostly just landscape and nature shots, never of people. After i was married my husband, Stephen, bought me a Sony point and shoot and i started to get into photography again. Family and friends caught wind of my
revisited hobby and so i was doing random favors, nothing big for anyone. Then i was requested as the photographer for my cousins wedding. I had no idea what i was doing but i just ran with it. I was pretty proud of myself for doing bridals with a dinky point and shoot and having pictures that actually turned out alright (wedding picture below is from her bridals that i took with my Sony). It just proves that fact that you don't have to have an expensive DSLR to get good photos. I hear all the time that people are gifted a nice camera and so to make good use of it they dabble into photography but i started out the opposite. I
loved photography, but couldn't afford the fancy cameras so i just had to make do with what i had. When i graduated college in May 2013, my parents and husband bought me my first DSLR. It was a
Nikon D3200. It was so dreamy but so complicated. I had to watch a good week of youtubevideos just to know how take a picture! Before i knew it i was getting requests left and right for pictures and i was swimming in photography. In February of 2014 i decided to start a business just to see where it went and its safe to say that just one year later i am still in business and can't believe all the support i have received! I have since updated my camera again to a Nikon D800E and i love it! Here are some of the latest pictures i have taken.
Less than one month away before i start scheduling again! January flew by! Even though i haven't been taking any pictures i have been so busy with setting up my website, creating contract agreements, getting new equipment etc. It has been crazy! I have a feeling that February is going to be gone in a flash so i'll just hold my breath and wait for the busy season to start again!
